THAI NGUYEN — Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has applauded the efforts of the Party Committee, authorities and public in the northern province of Thai Nguyen in organising the National Tourism Year 2007.

Hung attended the launching of the National Tourism Year 2007 in Thai Nguyen yesterday along with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

VietNamNet Bridge - More than 100 academic leaders and scholars from 14 institutions of higher education in seven countries across Asia gathered in the capital on Saturday for a three-day workshop.

Kim Jae Youl, President of the Korean Foundation for Advanced Studies which sponsored the workshop, said Asian research centres have grown in number, resulting in notable research findings and publications.

Scientific exchange and communication have been strengthened through various conferences and symposia. A growing sense of community among the centres has also become more pronounced as each has increased its participation in and contributions to annual workshops, Kim said.

He also visited the Dang Thuy Tram General Hospital in Duc Pho Township, and asked doctors and nurses to follow the example of heroic Dang Thuy Tram, who served the liberation force and sacrificed her life during the American War in the province.

He also met and presented gifts to 17 former comrades of Dr Tram and 20 families of Hre ethnic minority from Ba To District, where Tram worked and died.

In the afternoon, Triet and his delegation worked with provincial authorities.
